Upon finishing The Alchemist a few weeks ago I was left with a sense of fortitude. At its heart, The Alchemist is a book about working relentlessly to achieve your dreams despite whatever barriers might come your way. And Paulo Coelho certainly has a way with putting feelings into words and inspiring a sense of determination in his readers.
“And, when you want something, all the universe conspires in helping you achieve it.”
The book is easy to read and yet it’s rare to finish a page without stopping and reflecting on a simple yet profound sentence or two. As such, I put together a list of 10 lessons I learned from The Alchemist and the lines that taught them to me. Hopefully, they will inspire you to achieve your goals as well (and maybe even convince you to give the book a read!).

Alas, we cannot give you Austen, but Susan Hill's remarkable Woman In Black comes as close as our era can provide. Set on the obligatory English moor, on an isolated causeway, the story has as its hero Arthur Kipps, an up-and-coming young solicitor who has come north from London to attend the funeral and settle the affairs of Mrs. Alice Drablow of Eel Marsh House. The routine formalities he anticipates give way to a tumble of events and secrets more sinister and terrifying than any nightmare: the rocking chair in the deserted nursery, the eerie sound of a pony and trap, a child's scream in the fog, and most dreadfully--and for Kipps most tragically--The Woman In Black.

But Bridget knows what she saw, and becomes consumed with finding the little girl. Only she can save the child’s life… but could delving into the mystery cost Bridget her own?
Maybe even to yours.
